An OH-58 Kiowa Observation Helicoptor & AH-1 Cobra Gunship

The Cobras and the observation helecopters worked in teams, so you most often saw them together.  With not much going on at the time an Army pilot was giving a joyride to a female Army officer in the Cobra, which is the one hovering in the photo.  The Cobra has two seats, one in front of the other, rather than side by side.  The pilot flew from the back seat, and the weapons systems operator sat in the front seat.

The US Army was a constant source of wonder and amazement to the local population. There was always someone standing around watching us, children in this case.
